We worked with Jenny at OBRHI to coordinate rooms at DHBH for our wedding guests. We made a special trip to tour a lot of rooms (thanks Jenny!) - she was fabulous to work with! All the rooms were very clean, most had been updated to be more modern and a lot of the rooms had gorgeous views. The rooms get smaller as you get higher, but the views get better! The location is right down the street from the Waikiki strip, so it's quiet, but close to the action. Six of our guests stayed in rooms there and everyone was extremely happy. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at DHBH when we go back to visit! Stayed June 2012, traveled with family. - Tricia J

DHBH is a great place to stay if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki but be close enough to walk to it for its great food and night life. Erin Stanley really helped me out on short notice and made it so easy to rent the unit, get the keys to the unit and locked parking garage below. Everyone in the office was so friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a studio apartment that was very clean and had a large lanai, beach towels and a microwave/coffee maker and the building is a safe, gated grounds, which is situated on the ocean with a great backyard to sunbathe (no pool other than the pacific ocean 3 ft. from the property) and an easy paddle out to surf right off of the seawall. Its super quiet at night and within 2 minutes walking distance of one of the nicest and safest beaches for kids(Kaimana Beach (San Souci) in Waikiki. A 3 minutes walk to the Aquarium and directly across the street from Kapiolani Park, which is a large park for walking in the morning, free public lighted tennis courts and one of the best and affordable spots on the beach for breakfast/lunch spots in Waikiki.(Queens Surf Grill, a 5 minute walk from the hotel past the Aquarium), right on the beach. Its a great deal for budget minded travelers that don't want to stay in the run of the mill newer, chain hotels. I will definitely come back when i go home to visit my family. Mahalo Erin for your assistance last month!!
Mahalo Jenny and Erin for making our stay so wonderful at the Kahakai Penthouse. The suite was one of the best experiences our family has ever had in Hawaii including our stays at the outter islands. The one bedroom was spacious and very clean with a full walk-around lanai. We enjoyed the views of Diamond Head to Waikiki and especially the surfbreaks of Tong's and Old Man's. Your great service and attention to detail will keep us coming back! Aloha, - Dane C

My boyfriend and I spent a week at the Cabanas and had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and helped us get a rental car for a few days. The location is great. The rooms were clean, with a nice bathroom, great king bed, and large living area. The kitchen would have come in handy if we wanted to take the time to cook. We used the fridge in the room all the time for water and beverages. I've stayed in several chain hotels in Waikiki and they were okay, but I would choose to stay at the Cabanas first.
We travelled recently with our 4 month old daughter. Pre-reservation requirements of baby cot and other essentials were well honored, and the room, quality of attention and overall feeling was at the highest standard. We got 2-3 calls during our stay to see if all was fine, and even the request for a hand shower in the shower room was met with a technician changing the setting and adapting a hand shower. A first class experience. And the tall lady at the reception on the ground floor was so welcoming and warm. One of our best experiences. We`ll be back in six months - Peter M

The room was clean and updated. Nice beach towels, Waikiki ocean view from our private lanai, flatscreen TV, good free internet, great patio grass area next to sea wall for watching sunsets. 15 minute walk to either Waikiki shopping and nightlife, or Diamond Head surfing parks. While I had to pay an extra $/day for parking, it was very secure underground with remote open/close gate. Much better parking than most around it. No waiting for valet or tips. I really liked the parking arrangements. Very close to excellent private club, Outrigger Canoe Club that we got guest passes for. We got a studio that had a refrigerator, no microwave and next time we'll upgrade to one with a kitchenette. Lisy was very specific on what we were getting and suggestions to make our stay better.
Overall good value. Will stay again same place.
Our stay at Diamond Head Beach Hotel was fabulous. It is close to everything and has bus stops in front. I did rent a car and was able to park in a safe designated spot. Our room was very clean and comfortable. My boyfriend and I remarked several times that this was a great spot to stay for our first time and plan on coming back. - Melissa C

I stayed in the "Kaimana Suite" unit 102. It was just renovated days before I checked in, and it's beautiful! The benefits of staying on the first floor are tremendous. 20 steps out my door and I'm relaxing by the ocean watching the surfers! There is no sandy beach area right out front, but there's a very nice grassy area with lawn chairs that I spent quite a bit of time at during windy days when the beach wasn't pleasant. Kaimana beach, my fave, is a short 2 min walk down the road. The building is completely secure and I was perfectly comfortable being a single female traveler. Everything in the suite is updated and modern, the bed is soooooo comfy! I loved the flat screen tvs. There's an ample storage room/closet off of the living room, which came in very handy when I had a couple friends come and visit! Decent bedroom closet as well. Room for all our suitcases plus enough hangers and space to hang our clothes. The only thing missing was a microwave, but I have heard from other visitors that none of theirs' had one either. Nice lanai off the bedroom, with a peekaboo ocean view! The building's location was perfect for what I wanted. I knew this before I came, as I had scoped out the hotel a few months prior on another trip. An awesome location for runners, as there's a very popular running path around Kapiolani park just outside. 10 mins walk to Waikiki central or up to shops/food in lower Kaimuki/Diamond Head. There's many great local places that aren't overrun with tourists!
The management is amazing with Ohana Beach Rentals, who own many of the units there. Meagan, who assisted me through booking, was exceptional! Communication is key for me, and I really felt appreciated and welcome from the moment I contacted them to even after checkout, when I received a very nice thank you email. Every question or need I had was responded to immediately. That extra touch of actually caring really shines through with them. I will definitely book again! Stayed January 2012, traveled solo.
I live next door to the Diamond Head Beach Hotel so it is a convenient place for friends and family to stay when visiting Oahu. Recently, my two daughters visited, one with spouse and sister-in-law, the other with her boyfriend. I reserved two rooms with beautiful views and the kids were ecstatic. Lisy, the on-site rental agent for Ohana Beach Rentals did a magnificent job before, during and after the kids' visit. She showed us several rooms before the visit and was invaluable in helping us get the best rooms within our budget. She went above and beyond the call when she arranged with the property manager (this hotel has private residences as well as vacation rentals) for us to have a party in a common area overlooking the ocean. Security deposits were promptly returned and the whole experience was positive. I highly recommend Ohana Beach Rentals, their two on-site agents, Lisy and Sarra, and the Diamond Head Beach Hotel, a quiet, oceanfront property which is a twenty minute walk from the heart of Waikiki. - Bob

Would highly recommend staying here as long as you rent through Ohana Beach Rentals. Lisy Gau was awesome and took care of everything. We rented the Oceanfront 1 Bedroom. It was on the 12th floor and we even had a parking spot. We took my Mom to Hawaii to celebrate her 90th birthday. She used to live just 4 buildings down and so we knew the area and wanted to stay in the area, but we also knew that we wanted to be right on the ocean and needed a kitchen. If you stay here you need to stay on the upper floors or your view will be limited. Keep in mind there is no pool, but you do have the ocean close by. There is a seawall so you cannot go in right in front of the hotel, but there is a stairs close by and a great place to step into the ocean for a nice swim. If you need a sandy beach, the Kaimana beach is a short walk.
Just got back from a 2 week stay in the Orchid Suite. The stay was organized through Sarra Khan from Ohana Beach Rentals Hawaii, who couldn't have been more helpful, her hospitality made the stay a whole lot more enjoyable. Firstly its a great location, within walking distance of Waikiki but far enough away to have peace and quiet. From the 11th floor we had great views of the beach on one side and a view of the diamond head crater on the otherside. The room was very clean and comfortable. It contained everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The private beach access is also a major plus, as you can relax in the sun or go for a swim without the crowds. I also found it to very well priced. If we ever head back to Honolulu we would definitely stay here again - Franky B

From the second you step onto the property at Trump Waikiki you are made to feel a welcomed and valued customer. We spent 5 nights here and were truly sad to leave.
The location is slightly away from the main Waikiki hotels located on the beach, but in a way that is nice to be slightly removed from the hectic atmosphere of that area.
The room (Deluxe studio with ocean views) was spacious with its own kitchen which was handy for breakfasts and lunch when you don't want to head out. The staff at the concierge were terrific in helping arrange tours and rental cars etc, they exceeded expectation in every way. In general the staff are the friendliest and most welcoming at any hotel I have stayed at.
The beach bags available at the concierge were a nice addition as it's often hard to pack beach towels in already packed suitcases. The day spa and the restaurants were all of high quality. Thinking back on it, there is really nothing I can fault about this hotel. I hope to return some day soon!!
We(Wife and I) spent a total of three nights, two nights in a row interrupted by a one day stay up north, then back down to Ilikai for one night. Both check ins went smoothly and they even worked hard to get us in our rooms with early check-in at no extra charge. The hotel staff, from front desk to baggage room to cleaning staff were all seemingly happy, professional and helpful. Our rooms had exceptional views of the beach and ocean, the balconies were huge, lots of room. Our rooms were very clean and well kept. The location of the hotel itself was perfect for our needs, dinning and shopping is all near by. This was our first trip ever to Honolulu and we strongly suggest staying at the Ilikai Hotel. In our opinion, this was one of our best "bang for our buck". - Earl S

We've stayed at a variety of places around Honolulu and I can confidently say this is the best value we've found. Sure, you can pay double or triple and stay at a big name hotel that has a pool, but we don't go to Hawaii to swim in pools - and with only a 2 or 3 minute walk to the beach this really met our needs. The stove, microwave, and refrigerator increased the value! We have a 5yr old and a 3 yr old, and every other vacation one of them falls out of a hotel bed. This time I felt safe...The couch/daybed has a trundle bed underneath it and my boys thought it was was like having a vacation version of bunk beds. Parking is limited but only $10 per day - and it's in a locked, gated area under the rooms (street level). We were given beach towels at check in.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was especially comfy. Coconut Lime Verbena soap/shampoo in the bathroom (sorry, but I enjoy the little pleasures!). Public washer/dryer available (guests only). The exterior isn't much to look at, but I was very pleased the second I opened the door to the room. We were flying stand-by and uncertain about our chances of catching a flight out...Miho was exceptionally helpful and arranged a back-up plan in case we didn't make it out the day we planned. If you're an airline employee you'll understand how valuable this is! We felt very safe with multiple locked gates (keycard access). The location was very quite - didn't even hear garbage trucks in the morning! The 3 employees we interacted with were very friendly. I've already recommended the location to friends, and my husband & I definately plan to stay here again when headed to Waikiki! Previous reviews referred to this place as a "hidden gem" and I couldn't agree more

My husband and I just returned from a week stay at the Kahala and it was paradise ! When we first arrived at the hotel we were greeted outside by friendly staff. The lobby of the hotel was lovely and had many nice seating areas. Our room was nicely decorated and had a beautiful view of the ocean. The bathroom was spacious and had his and hers sinks as well as a closet for both of us, which included slippers and robes. Going out to pool was an amazing experience because the Kahala has a lagoon with dolphins ! It was so fun to watch them everyday just playing. The pool area has a bar that has a limited food menu as well. The bar has seating on the beach as well . We tried several of the restaurants and found them all to be excellent. The breakfast buffet at the Plumeria had a great selections of foods daily as well as an omelet station. Hoku's Restaurant was amazing as well. We both had spa treatments while there and had great service. The hotel offers rentals by the pool if you choose to paddle board or snorkle. If you are in Honolulu be sure and stay at the Kahala for a trip to remember! - Ren2e

We stayed at the Cabana at Waikiki on the recommendation of friend. The entire experience was fantastic. From the moment we made our reservation, I could tell that we'd made a good decision. We've never been to Hawaii before, but the Cabana is one of the reasons that we'll likely come back. The front desk / management staff were excellent at answering our questions and handling our special requests. We were wanting for nothing during our entire stay. The rooms were spotless, the hotel was nice and quiet, and were just a few hundred feet from the beach. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I'm very particular. The rooms, including the bathrooms, were nicely appointed and VERY neat and clean. We'll be back for sure. I highly recommend the Cabana at Waikiki. You will not be disappointed

It's been two days at the Trump Waikiki and I don't want to leave! Honolulu is heaven on earth and The Trump is the perfect place to stay! Hotel arrival Entrance is beautiful. Reception is on the sixth floor. When we arrived, weekly Friday night fireworks were about to start. We grabbed a cocktail, and stayed on the balcony for the perfect view. Friendly and quick check in, great service Room We booked a studio room city view through Jet Luxury resorts and got an awesome deal. The room is not huge but it had everything we could want - comfortable bed with all white sheets, balcony with partial ocean view, tv with DVD, iPod/iPhone docking station, kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee maker and dishes! Beautiful shower and sink. Modern and simple very clean. We even arrived to a box of Hawaiian short bread cookies which I will definitely be bringing back for friends and family. Perfect room for us! Pool Much smaller than anticipated....BUT it's on the sixth floor so no ransoms from other hotels nth is is huge because as you walk through other hotels in Waikiki you find you can just walk into their pools and there's aren't really that much bigger. I found that although our pool was small most the time you want to be at the beach so it's a small sacrifice for such a modern hotel. Location Is PERFECT! You are in the heart of everything. We walked to breakfast just around the corner from shopping and the park. Quick walk to the beach. Across form the Halekulani for brunch. It's right in the heart of it all without being too chaotic like some of the other hotels. All in all this is a great hotel and I will be back! Honolulu is the ideal marriage of beach and city , relaxation and fun, nature and luxury. I'm sold on the Trump! - Pvgirl7

Great location, only a 10min walk from the heart of Waikiki, this means you can actually SLEEP at night and not be disturbed by all that madness in downtown Waikiki. The rooms are clean & everything works, the views are stunning from every room or corridor and what has made a huge difference to me and my family (5x rooms) was the outstanding customer service provided to us by Lisy Gau. Pricing is equal to what you would get in downtown waikiki less the hassle, so to us it was a big plus! Be sure to contact Lisy Gau as she is always very HAPPY to help you!!!
The primary reason why I loved this hotel was its proximity to the Ala Moana Shopping Mall as well as other local shops -- including a Walmart. Our room was always clean and we had an AMAZING view of the city from our balcony. I could literally see Diamond Head every morning. The staff was always pleasant especially when we asked for a room change. We booked a king suite and received a double upon check in. After we called in for a room change, someone immediately walked up and gave us a new room key. Great service! Also, if you're staying at this hotel, do yourself a favor and walk to the Ala Moana beach and eat by the local shops outside of Walmart. The beach area is where all the locals go and is not crowded at all. And if you have ever tried to get food around the Waikiki area, its pretty hard to find a good meal without waiting. My boyfriend and I tried a lot of local fare near the hotel and it was pretty reasonably priced. One favorite of mine -- Raging Crab (think Boiling Crab or Joe's Crab Shack). It was a hop skip and walk away. We did make the trek to Waikiki Beach but be advised, do not try to walk there at night like we did. It was a bit scary. One other con --- parking is $20 a night. We weren't pleased to pay it but it was convenient and safe. I'm glad no one broke into our rental. I would definitely stay at the Ala Moana the next time I come to Honolulu! - Stephanie P

Our family of 5 stayed for 4 nights. We booked a 2 bedroomed suite. The facilities of the suite where excellent, although we didn't used most of them (eg the kitchen). The main bathroom was wonderful and we loved the spa bath. The little extras where nice eg bags for the beach (including apples, water and sun cream) and shoe cleaning, although you are obviously getting what you pay for! The children where well treated. The staff where very accommodating. Location wise, the hotel is well placed and in walking distance to good shops and restaurants. The only thing I was uncomfortable with was the number of people running around after us eg three people came to attend to the suite twice a day. I found this a little intrusive.
Without a doubt the best hotel in Waikiki. I enjoyed it so much that I'm heading back there again in 4 weeks from now. It started with us arriving quite early and the hotel staff giving us a 'temporary room' for a few hours until our room was ready. I was sad to leave the temporary room as I thought we'd surely be stepping down ... how I was wrong. We were upgraded, without request or any notice, to one of the biggest hotel rooms I've stayed in. It was the 2br suite with ocean views and den. For a first time guest I was very lucky. The kitchen is exceptionally good for a hotel. Clearly they don't discourage people from bringing in heaps of food as the fridges we saw were very big. The wholefoods market is a cab ride away but great for setting yourself up for the week with some nice eat-in meals (if that's what you want). The facilities are all great; the hotel's cleanliness is faultless. The poolside service is also quite good. This time around I even booked the same type of room we were upgraded to just because I know how good it was. The pricing is justifiable for the quality of the hotel and services. All in all a wonderful stay, hence the return trip. - Jlidds

We stayed in two separate two bedroom apartments on different floors (7th and 3rd). Both spacious apartments faced the ocean and had stunning views. Management was very helpful. Only one apartment had a car parking space so we needed to return our rental car for our second week. This was no great problem because the beach and Waikiki is within walking distance of town. Sometimes we would catch a bus from outside the building. The complex is quite. All you hear is the ocean. The rooms are spacious. Stayed August 2011, traveled as a couple
If you get a chance, stay in Suite 1203. It was so clean and was home away from home. The view from the windows was spectacular with Diamond Head and the ocean on one side and Waikiki, the ocean and a glorious park on the other. So quiet and peaceful. The gals in the office were great to deal with--Cassie and Cyra. They helped in so many ways. We returned home with renewed energy. Thank you so much. Stayed February 2012, traveled with friends - Lorenda B

My wife and I and our 2 children were there for the week between Christmas and New Years 2010. The unit was perfect - clean, well-stocked (including sand toys and beach towsls), and spacious. For us, the location is great, as we're members of the Outrigger Canoe Club, which is only a couple doors down. It's close enough to town but out of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Also, we accidentally locked ourselves out of our room after hours and the staff promptly headed over to let us in.
