Hula is a huge part of the Hawaiian culture and one of the many beauties of living in Hawaii. The 70th Annual Na Hula Festival going on this Sunday August 8th at Ka piolani Park. Beginning in 1941 the festival is Hawaii’s longest running annual non-competitive hula event. All the residents and visitors to Oahu will be able to get a taste of culture at the 9th annual Heiva I Kauai Iaorana Tahiti, July 31 to August 1, at Kapaa Beach Park. Tahitians, close cousins to Hawaiians, have dance styles similar to hula but unique and beautiful in its own execution. The event will feature multi-cultural exhibition dancing, singing and crafts with an array of items from southern and western Pacific islands for sale.

VOLLEYBALL COACH SHOJI MAKES HALL OF FAME UH Women’s Volleyball Coach, Dave Shoji coached UH women to 3 NCAA division championships & 9 NCAA appearances. Shoji became the 2nd NCAA Division 1 Head Coach to reach 1,000 wins. He has 1,016 career victories, ranking him 2nd all time in Division 1.
