Gourmet Chef, Peter Foster…. at your service

Peter Foster’s passion for the culinary arts began at the age of 15, when he was working as a dish washer in a restaurant in his home town, Los Gatos, California. Inspired by that passion, he attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. After graduation, Peter was recruited by a German firm, Zihoga, to work in the kitchen of St. Peter, a restaurant located in a small wine growing valley south of Cologne. While he was there, the restaurant earned its second Michelin star. Peter has worked under world class chefs in New York, San Francisco, Europe, and here in Hawaii. From all this experience, he knows that he can never stop learning and expanding his vision of the culinary arts.

For the discerning design customer, we even travel to Asia to select rare woods, create custom furniture, as well as import carved, one of a kind interior, front and pocket doors made of old growth Teak or Mahogany. Every possible attention to your design details is made to insure the most spectacular result within a given budget. On design jobs of over 3 rooms, senior design staff will even travel to California to obtain preferable pricing of a much broader range of merchandise and decorative accessories and ship via container load to Hawaii. We have found the result is better quality, for a cheaper price than can be obtained in Hawaii even when considering the cost of freight. The other benefit of this system is that the end result does not appear cookie cutter or similar to everyone else on island that can only shop at the same few select resources here in Hawaii.

Distinctive Homes Hawaii interior design services include updated weekly accounting spread sheets that provide all the details on a timely basis through our third party independent accounting vendor, Accounting Systems of Hawaii. Design fees of 20% are added to all purchases. We even have a program that lets the design client pay directly for purchases to save on local taxes and provide travel award miles on their respective credit cards. The design purchase fees are then invoiced separately. Time is billed out at $100.00 per man hour and billed weekly. In the event a design client wishes to place their home or condo into our Luxury rental program then the hourly fee is reduced to $75.00 per hour with a one year minimum participation agreement in our luxury rental program. In the event of a project that requires overseas travel for sourcing, manufacturing, buying and importing of custom building products or furnishings, a written quote and budget will be provided in advance for the clients approval and signature.
