Taste of Helumoa Food & Wine Festival – Sept. 16th

10th ANNIVERSARY DUKE’S OCEANFEST

  • Aloha Joe, the athletes have landed and have been warming up all week for the last big ocean fest to end the summer!
  • In honor of the legendary Duke Kahanamoku, this weekend, from August 24 to the 28th we are celebrating the birthday of Hawaii’s “Father of Surfing,” in true Waikiki Beachboy style!
  • Attendees are free to participate or spectate in a host of ocean sports including longboard surfing, surf polo, swimming, stand up paddling and paddleboarding. The event culminates with a lei draping ceremony of Duke’s statue.
  • Free to attend, booths and entertainment.

TASTE OF HELUMOA FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL 2011

  • I know I do! That’s why I’m beyond excited for the Taste of Helumoa Food & Wine Festival 2011 happening on Friday September 16!
  • Last year’s signature event sold-out! Who wouldn’t want to spend an energizing evening under the stars in The Royal Grove, where guests will enjoy Hawaiian entertainment by renowed Teresa Bright, and indulge in sumptuous cuisine from eight restaurants accompanied by a wine pairing option for each prepared dish.
  • Participating restaurants include Chibo Okonomiyaki, Doraku Sushi, II Lupino Trattoria & Wine Bar, P.F. Chang’s Waikiki, Restaurant Suntory, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, The Cheesecake Factory, and Azure. Young’s Market Company of Hawaii will be sponsoring the wine.

2011 ALOHA FESTIVAL FLORAL PARADE

  •  Aloha Joe we are one month out for the world’s most beautiful display of flowers in a festival you won’t believe! It’s the Aloha Festival Floral Parade!
  • On September 24, 2011 at 9:00am a colorful equestrian procession of female and male pau riders, extravagant floats with cascades of Hawaiian flowers, hula Halau and marching bands will brighten Kalakaua Avenue from Ala Moana Park to Kapiolani Park. This is a “must see” event!
  • Anyone who has seen the Aloha Festival Floral Parade will tell you that it’s nothing like anything you have ever seen before. The streets are lined with thousands of spectators staring at the gorgeous flowers. It’s amazing!
  • Admission is free and it only happens once a year!

NEW FOOD TRUCK HITS TOWN: PUFFETTES

  • Aloha Joe you know that Hawaii is crazy for our food truck delicacy that has become a national sensation for foodies everywhere! Well we are happy to announce there is a new yummy sensation roaming the streets!
  • It’s called Puffettes and it is a popular Hong Kong snack characterized as Egg Puffs. Egg Puffs are shaped like waffle balls and are typically made with egg, sugar, and evaporated milk. They are cooked on a griddle with a special waffle mold.
  • Owner Kent Lee came straight from China with all of his food supplies to introduce Puffettes to the Hawaii market.
  • The truck roams around Honolulu and the Downtown area and is already causing quite a stir!
  • You won’t find a more delicious assortment of food anywhere else in the world than in Hawaii!
